EpicFox says:

I got Diagnosed with ASD yesterday, on Autism awareness day. Ironic isn’t it. But yea i’m not sure how to feel about it yet. I mean i still feel te same so nothing changes. But at least i will get the help i need now.

Sara Sherbondy says:

Okay, yikes. That commercial… Was gross, and somehow it was a "poor autistic kid, poor parents, parents so strong" kinda video, and it rubbed me wrong.

Marlee Matthews says:

I’m not autistic but I’m neurodivergent (adhd) and it’s so true that the world is really not built for those who aren’t neurotypical 😕

Kate Connell, CPDT-KA says:

I agree with all of this except that the "blue pumpkins" at Halloween are actually TEAL for food allergies. If you put out a teal pumpkin, that means that you give out non-food treats such as glow sticks, stickers, rings, etc. They have nothing to do with autism.

BratPrivilege says:

“It’s not awareness, it’s bewareness.”
Yes, this . so much this. You just summed up what AS actually does perfectly.

Martyna Wejman says:

Omg, I'm from Europe so I never heard about Autism Speaks before. I knew tho that a blue puzzle piece was a "symbol" of autism. My little brother is autistic, he's a lovely kid. I wanted to someday get a tattoo of a puzzle piece, I think it's very cute pattern and it reminded me of my brother. Not that my brother is autism and that's all, it's just a symbol I associated with him. But now you're telling me the story of this symbol 😱😱 I'm glad I haven't got the tattoo yet 😪

4classtime says:

Thank you so much for putting this information out. My daughter has ranted about autism speaks for years. She is so offended by that organization. She educated me. Thank you for educating others. 💜

Madchild says:

I'm autistic and hate autism speaks they are a literal hate group! but what I will say is I don't mind the puzzle piece I view it as everyday I fill out another piece of my puzzle rather that it being something missing ( but I do understand people who don't like it)
I completely agree with most of what you said and love watching your content, its great to see so many creators spreading knowledge and understanding as that's that will allow people to learn and grow from the stereotypes x

Mayna Babineau says:

can you do a video on ABA please? I'm in University studying disability studies and I was super surprised to find that some psych majors were planning on specializing in ABA but I would like to know what you think about ABA from your perspective! love your videos Paige!

yivmaiden says:

Paige, I wished you could see that your female representation as you are is so meaningful for the community < 3

Arlyn K says:

“It’s not awareness … it’s bewareness”

Arlyn K says:

These intros are the best😂😭😭😭 & you are cute, even with a pimple

Hope Hurley says:

a "cure" implies that there's something wrong with you. it's like when people see my dad in his wheelchair and go "can i pray for you?" like no he doesn't need to be fixed or healed.

Bryn says:

Ryoga says:

Disclaimer: English is not my native language, so I'm probably going to make a lot of mistakes.
I watched the "I am Autism" thing and I got shivers. They lucrate on caregivers' ignorance making autism look like a disease, something orrible that exists in itself and so can be separated from the child. That's misinformation.
Not only, they make it seem like autism 'affects' only children, like it then desappears growing up. And that's why people keep thinking that adults can't be autistic.
That video is probably the worst thing ever you could possibly do to autism awareness. (unlike you I do support the word "awareness" because people need to know what autism really is, as knowledge is the first step to acceptance)
Fortunately, I live in Europe where that shit of a company hasn't come yet (I mean, never heard of it here). In my country autism is represented by rainbow colours, or at least by four colours wich are red, yellow, blue, and light blue. We have the puzzles thing too but it doesn't have a bad message. I don't know, it's like the puzzle represents the autistic mind: puzzles are clear, not chaotic, and have a structure. It symbolizes the tendency of autistic kids to tidy their enviroment to make it more comfortable. So puzzles pieces are not perceived as bad at all.

Lorraine says:

You know what Paige, you do fit in this society. I see you. I see how special you are. You are not a burden, you don’t need to be fixed or changed, you are perfect just the way you are ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Kate Davis says:

I have adhd and I feel the whole ‘this world is not built for me’ so much
I think neurodiversity is a beautiful thing. We don’t need cured!!!!!!!

JosephineDDarling says:

I just watched their commercial and I am very hurt. Autism can be scary but it doesn’t make your children evil it’s not all bad. It made me cry. The stupidity of these people is overwhelming

Margarita K says:

As my husband said yesterday: “World just not ready for autistic people” but soon it’s all going to be different because of social media influencers who helps to raise the awareness.

avionpiscean33 says:

I used to follow their facebook page, and it put me in such a dark place. When I started to learn other members the autism community were against it, I stopped following, and started realizing that being autistic isn't as terrible of a thing as I was told it was, and started to love and accept myself. I started to openly speak out against them, but got a lot of backlash from my family about it, but I had seen and experienced first hand what it was doing to me, and refused to stand down. I'm proud of who I am. I'm not defective. I'm not lesser. I'm a person with wants, needs, feelings, and personal pursuits, like anyone else. Screw Autism $peaks.

Melanie Hubbard says:

Yeah, neurological, aren't they great.

Melanie Hubbard says:

Who cares about us, Paige? That should be your next, question.

Melanie Hubbard says:

The 🌎, is not built for me!

Melanie Hubbard says:

We, the autism community are not broken. You are exactly, 💯 right, Paige.

Melanie Hubbard says:

Hey, Paige!

Charlie Cunliffe says:

Just to state that there's 6 types of epilepsy and photosensitive epilepsy only affects 3% of all epileptics so it won't affect the majority of epileptics

Mollie Mullen says:

I’m currently waiting to go through an autism assessment myself (in UK) and the amount of things I’ve found out through tiktok and youtube and instagram is insane! It breaks my heart knowing how unheard autistic individuals are just because they’re “different”! My younger brother is also autistic and ADHD and he struggles so much with everyday life (he’s 10 years old). I am literally so concerned for his future and what he’s going to have available to him

PotatoQueen1989 says:

I have Autism and for me i see each of my diagnosis as a puzzle piece that make up me, so far i'm officially diagnosed with anxiety, depression, dyslexia and ADHD and they all make up me getting an official diagnosis is the last part of my puzzle to why i am the way i am, but knowing i am autistic makes me feel complete like i finally understand myself and don't feel like i'm broken or an alien because i don't understand things and struggle to communicate how i feel, but i can totally understand why people on the spectrum don't want the puzzle piece anymore, where i live we have people using the gold infinity sign and lighting it up gold.

Martha Bayley says:

happy autism acceptance month!!🤍
