When I was a road warrior, I had one like that, a financial institution whose on-site server was down. They were actually good about it, but I had to fight tooth and nail with the next level of support to send me out the rush part I needed, so I was getting grief from both sides! Swapped the RAID card and all was good.

I have almost one customer per shift that swears they have rebooted everything, yet the uptime is days or weeks.

One sticks out in my mind, a young woman who was particularly angry and acerbic who not only claimed that, but that she scoured our website and found no help (not only does the reboot appear prominently on the site, but we have an AI assistant that says the same AND a recording while waiting for an agent that says the same thing). She claimed we were idiots etc. A simple reboot fixed the issue. No apology, nothing. First, RTFM and second, if these systems are so mission critical, have a recovery plan like having services from TWO ISPs!

Criminy. My work vehicle that I borrow from facilities. Head of facilities knows I smoke and has told me on numerous occasions if she ever finds out I smoked in the vehicle, she’d kill me and get me fired. In that order.
We’re friends and that’s only partly in jest. She wouldn’t murder me, but I would get fired. 🙂
